Team DYRS emerged as Kyorugi champions while Dimapur won the Poomsae title at the Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship.
KOHIMA — The 36th Kyorugi and first Poomsae Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship, along with the Under-14 Catch Them Young Tournament, concluded at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on Thursday.
A total of 13 districts and two departmental organisations—the Nagaland Police and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS)—participated in the two-day championship.
Team DYRS emerged as the champions of Kyorugi, winning 21 gold, four silver, and one bronze medal. Team Dimapur bagged the first runner-up spot with 13 gold, 11 silver, and 16 bronze medals, while Team Wokha secured the second runner-up position with 12 gold, six silver, and two bronze medals.
In the Poomsae category, team Dimapur emerged as the champions with two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, while Team Kohima came in second place with one gold medal.

Major General Harinder Singh Mavi, IGAR (North), attended the closing ceremony and appreciated the players for showcasing their energy, zeal, and talent. He stated that victory should keep players grounded and encourage them to perform better, urging them to set higher targets and represent not only the state but India as well.
He informed that the army conducts special recruitment for sportspersons every year, adding that candidates must first meet the educational and sporting standards.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports. The participating districts were Phek, Dimapur, Wokha, Shamator, Mokokchung, Peren, Zunheboto, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Kiphire, Tuensang, Noklak, and Kohima.
