DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Yanthungo Patton has mourned the demise of late Dr. Phyobemo Ngully.

In a condolence note, Patton described Dr. Ngully as a respected figure in Naga society, known for his selfless service and contributions to various organisations, and added that his legacy reflects his dedication to healthcare, human rights, and community service.

Dr. Ngully, Patton said, highlighted his profound love for his profession and selfless dedication to serving the community. His annual "Mind Your Health" workshops for unreached villages in Nagaland, sponsored by Kohima Educational Trust (KET) and Kohima Educational Society (KES), demonstrate his commitment to improving mental health awareness and care.

Stating that as Chairman of Kohima Educational Society until his passing, Dr. Ngully left a lasting impact on Naga society, Patton noted that his passing is not just a personal loss for him but for Naga society in general.

He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul may find eternal rest.

The director and staff of Kripa Foundation Nagaland also condoled the demise of their chairman, Dr. Ngully.

In a condolence message, the foundation stated that Dr. Ngully had been closely associated with the foundation for many years and had served as medical officer, director, and chairman.

Stating that he was a great mentor for everyone at Kripa Foundation, the message read that he was a wise, dynamic leader in addressing issues and challenges of substance use (drugs and alcoholism) and mental health disorders, as well as crisis and conflict intervention and resolution.

Describing him as a competent and efficient administrator, a remarkable gentleman who motivated them with his humility, the foundation maintained that he was soft-spoken, pleasant-natured, courageous, open-minded, and a God-fearing person, ever willing to help marginalised groups of people.

“His death is a huge loss to the people of Nagaland, especially to marginalised groups,” it read, adding that the foundation will continue to remember him with respect and admiration for his able leadership and contribution to Kripa Foundation and to the state of Nagaland, especially in the fields of substance use disorder, HIV programmes, and the Naga peace process.

Kripa Foundation extended condolences to his bereaved family members at this difficult moment and prayed that the Almighty will grant them solace and serenity and that his soul may rest in peace.
