Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): Diphupar Village Council (DVC) called upon various organisations and public as a whole to stand united in true spirit in order to carry forward the society towards its desired destination, while it also urged all to introspect and retrospect the past deeds and comprehend “where we all went wrong and what needs to be done for a more peaceful and amicable solution.”
DVC chairman Lanutoshi and secretary E Philip Lotha stated that the recent unrest in the State caused by the ULB election resulting in numerous destructions to both government and public properties was a matter of great concern for every law abiding Naga citizens. It, however, stated that two beloved sons who were gunned down by erring IRB personnel will forever remembered as martyrs.
DVC also congratulated the State government for successfully conducting the 12th Assembly Session under the leadership of the chief minister, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu. It also appreciated the government for listening to the cries of its people and fulfilling some of their demands viz (i) stepping down of the then chief minister TR Zeliang from his post as per the demand of the people and nullifying ULB elections held on 1.2.2017.
DVC also thanked the chief minister for bringing to table the issue of ULB elections during the recently concluded Assembly Session and assurring to initiate the process of dialogue and consultation with the stakeholders in order to arrive at a broad based consensus on the issue. DVC hoped that the same is carried out in letter and spirit acceptable by the general public of Nagaland at the earliest.
Also stating that a society cannot function without good governance and there can be no good governance in any society without the help and support of its people, DVC strongly felt that it is time to explore all parties to find an amicable solution rather than justifying own position.
