The Adviser of the Nagaland Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA), N. Thongwang Konyak Saturday inaugurated the new building of the Government Primary School (GPS) here in Mon Town-D.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Konyak called for imparting quality education where every child could be moulded towards becoming future asset to the society. For this, he said, teachers and students have to work together. Similarly, school authority and ward union need to have a sense of ownership.
Appealing the people to repose faith in present government and to work together for all round development, Konyak expressed gratitude for electing him in the last assembly elections. He assured the people that he would work for their wellbeing and development of the areas. He said, road leading to Wangkhao College would be repaired and a Modern School be established in the district for which cooperation from public is essential. Meanwhile, Konyak also assured to provide fuel for vehicle carrying waste during social work on August 9.
Earlier, the programme, chaired by P.Ngapwang started with invocation prayer by Chongwang. Welcome speech was delivered by Jamjai, President, Techahan Ward Mon Town. Short speech was also delivered by deputy commissioner, Mon and District Education Officer. The vote of thanks was proposed by Nokho, WEC Chairman.
