DTF Dimapur devises action for malaria elimination

The members of District Task Force (DTF) Dimapur during its meeting on malaria elimination at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall on February 17.

Dimapur, Feb. 17 (EMN): The District Task Force (DTF) Dimapur held a meeting on malaria elimination at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall on February 17. Chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Anoop Khinchi, the meeting began by reviewing the minutes of the previous DTF meeting.

An update from National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Dimapur informed that DPO, NVBDCP Dimapur, Dr. Imtiwabong presented the report on malaria case in 2019, which was reviewed by the members.

The members resolved to continue conducting social works to involve the stakeholders and proposed co-ordination meetings with allied departments such as the PWD (R&B), PHED, DMC, NH, and Swatch Bharat Mission. They also resolved to continue the distribution of larvivorous fish.

According to the press release, asst. director of UVBDS Dimapur Kikolol Khieya was given the responsibility to find out areas of ponds in and around Dimapur to control mosquito breeding areas. The IT section under DMC has also been given the responsibility to sketch out maps of drainage for Dimapur Municipal Area.

The members also resolved to seek financial assistance from Swatch Bharat Mission to clean the drains, ponds, and stagnant waters in Dimapur. Other officials present during the meeting were chief medical officer Dimapur Dr. Pangjung Sangtam, district education officer Dimapur R Amongla Jamir, SDO, NH (PWD), Kito Anche, DPO Social Welfare Hutoi Sema, Fishery department Adezenuo Dolie, superintendent of DMC Ganesh Sharma, zonal entomologist Vizobonuo Khieya, consultant of NVBDCP Dimapur Ezewe, and staff under CMO Dimapur.
