Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): The department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Technologies Display and Dissemination Facility (DRDDF), School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD) of Nagaland University organised a one-day workshop about technologies of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) inside the community hall of Molvom village in Dimapur on Sept. 3.
A press release from the centre stated that its exercising authority, Dr. NK Patra, spoke about the details of scientific research and societal activities of DAE and the activities of DRDDF which is functioning in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai.
Dr. Patra gave a brief introduction of BARC and their domain of works such as nuclear technology, bio-medics, agriculture, food security, environment, health, etc. and highlighted about the available technologies with DTDDF.
During the presentation, special emphasis was given to start Nisargruna (bio gas plant) at community, village level, or individually to utilize post harvest residue and waste from pineapple cultivation for production of biogas and quality compost.
In the technical session, demonstration and display of the different technologies of DTDDF was conducted. T Senchumo Yanthan, a staffs of the department, and Sashilia Ao, a research scholar, demonstrated domestic water purifier, foldable solar dryer, soil organic carbon detection kit, and the fluoride detection kit.
All participants were encouraged to adopt BARC technologies and to start entrepreneurship with it. It was also informed that interested people can contact to DTDDF office at SASRD, Nagaland University for further details of different technologies and to start their entrepreneurship, the press release added.
