Kohima, Oct. 8 (EMN): The Kohima Police on Saturday destroyed Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) worth INR 35.98 lakh in Kohima, joining the rest of the northeastern states in its mission for a drug- free Nagaland and India.
The destruction was done simultaneously along with other states from the Northeast during a regional meet on drug trafficking and national security under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, informed Additional SP of Kohima Police Vitoshe K Sumi at the destruction site.
The drugs were destroyed in the presence of district administration, church, colony representatives and the media fraternity.
The police officer informed that the contraband ganja of 378 kg worth INR 7,48,000 in local market, 15 kg of raw opium worth INR 19,50,000 and 350 gram (approx.) of heroin worth INR 9,00,000
He added that the seizures were made in 2022 alone.

Sumi also maintained that the destruction is also an awareness on the menace and negative impact of drug trafficking, which affects the national security and called for efforts to reform the society and make it better.
