Imphal, Jan. 3 (EMN): Troops of the 26th Assam Rifles said to have conducted the operations based on specific inputs about the presence of a large quantity of drugs along with stolen vehicles in the area of Sangaiyumpham Nungphou Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district. They launched an operation along with a team of Thoubal Commandos on Sun., according to Assam Rifles sources.
During the operation, 13 individuals were apprehended including one Sonia (22) wife of a Md Alloc, stated to be the ‘kingpin’ in running the illicit business, the press release stated.
14 two wheeler, 95 WY (world is yours) tablets, 9.5 grams of contraband heroin number four, various items used for packing, injecting and smoking drugs and Rs 38,150 in cash were seized from their possession, it was informed.
Sonia was stated as having confessed of her involvement in drug trafficking, stealing of vehicles and selling them in the black market, the press release claimed. More contraband items are expected to be recovered from the apprehended individuals; they are in custody of Thoubal police station.
