Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): In a thirst-quenching gesture, the members of the All Nagaland Government Drivers Association (ANGDA) and All Nagaland Directorate & District Govt. Drivers’ Union (AND&DGDU) visited the landslide area near Kohima Municipal Council’s dumping site and gave away fruit juice and water to the stranded commuters.
In a joint press release made available to this newspaper, the associations have expressed “profound gratitude and deep appreciation to the concerned department officials and the local contractor for selflessly and tirelessly rendering their valuable service day and night towards smooth movement of the vehicle.”
“Our sincere prayer shall ever remain grateful and almighty God blesses you all abundantly,” stated the associations.
It may be mentioned that hundreds of vehicles were left stranded for the entire day on July 4, after a stretch of
National Highway-29 near the old KMC dumping site, Jotsoma submerged and sank nearly two metres deep in the morning.
Officials pressed into restoration works and the road was opened to the traffic the next day.
