Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): A union of drivers working at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, in Kohima, has issued a notice asking its members to be presentable when working.
The Nagaland Secretariat Drivers Union (NSDU) issued a note on Thursday stipulating that the drivers ‘dress in a presentable manner’ and, among others, “not chew and spit tobacco/paan/tamul indiscriminately.”
The notice was stated to be for all the drivers, handymen and mechanic of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, transport special pool and the Nagaland Secretariat Drivers Union. They are to follow the ‘given code of conduct’: “dress in a presentable neat and tidy manner at the time of active duty.”
They are to be punctual to work, and refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking or doing drugs, ‘or any kind of intoxicating substances at the time of duty.’
Further they are asked not to “chew and spit tobacco/paan/tamul indiscriminately.” Again, they are not to ‘get into conflict with each other over petty matters, and avoid conflict.’
“We should always be meek and helpful towards everyone and work our best in order to be a positive influence to our families, fellow employees and the society,” the union stated.
“We all have our spouse, children and family members awaiting our safe return each day. Therefore be safe and of good health not only for ourselves but everyone around us. Let us all work earnestly and uphold our dignity of labor for one and all,” the union’s leaders stated in their notice to their members.
