Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Mokokchung, conducted a one day training on protocol of custom hiring centre for CSPs and VLO livelihoods sub-committee at Tuli town hall on October 28th with the participation of more than 50 persons.
The resource persons of the programme were Takalemba Jamir, DFS (NSRLM), Purlemla Jamir, DFS (NSRLM), Sungtiwaza, AC, and Alemongla Pongen, AC. The programme was conducted by DAY-NSRLM, DRDA Mokokchung as part of its annual action plan for the financial year 2019-2020, an update from Takalemba Jamir, DFS (NSLRM), DRDA, stated on Tuesday. It stated that participants were educated on the rules and procedures on the functioning of the custom hiring centre.
An update stated that the programme was one of its first kind initiated under Tuli RD block. With the training, the mission aims to establish and avail 10 custom hiring centres (CHCs)/ community managed tool banks. The CHCs would enable small and marginal famers to get access to farm equipment and services such as water pump, grinder, bush cutter, cold chain management, knapsack sprayer, hot press etc. at a nominal rate.
Those self-sustaining agricultural tool/ machineries/ implements are to be owned by the VLO and managed by the Krishi Sakhi (CSP Agri).
Meanwhile, the participants have expressed gratitude to the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) for conducting the programme and hoped that the knowledge gained through the programme would go a long way in modernising the mode of development in farming.
