DRDA Dimapur conducted district-level training on the People’s Plan Campaign for preparing the Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2026-27.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Rural Development, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland, conducted district-level training on the People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) for the preparation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the financial year 2026-27 at the DRDA conference hall, Dimapur, on July 3.
Delivering the keynote address, Project Director, DRDA Dimapur, Limameren Yaden, said that the Gram Panchayat Development Plan forms the foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development, a DIPR report stated.
He urged all line departments to actively participate in the planning process and work in close coordination with Gram Panchayats and frontline workers to prepare realistic, need-based and people-centric development plans.
The programme began with a welcome address by Jacob Zeliang, Block Development Officer (BDO), West Dimapur, who highlighted the importance of coordinated planning and the active involvement of all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the GPDP process.
The technical session was conducted by Bichano Humtsoe, District Programme Manager (DPM), Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), who served as the resource person.
She gave detailed presentations on the objectives and framework of the People’s Plan Campaign and explained the process of preparing the GPDP.

She also stressed the importance of community participation and the role of line departments in providing technical support and sector-specific inputs to ensure that development plans reflect the aspirations and priorities of rural communities.
The training further emphasised coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to prepare inclusive, need-based and sustainable development plans for every Gram Panchayat.
“Officials representing 12 line departments participated in the programme, reflecting the government’s commitment to convergence and coordinated planning for holistic rural development,” the report stated.
The participants discussed ways to strengthen inter-departmental collaboration for the effective preparation and implementation of GPDPs at the grassroots level.
The Department of Rural Development appreciated the active participation and cooperation of all the line departments and reiterated that the success of the PPC depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders in preparing comprehensive and realistic Gram Panchayat Development Plans.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating effective planning and convergence among departments for the successful implementation of GPDPs during the financial year 2026-27.
