DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council has raised alarm over “ongoing drainage issues” caused by alleged encroachment along the Sugar Mill drainage, which is severely affecting several localities including the Airport area, Padumpukhuri, Purana Bazar B, and Purana Bazar.
In a press release, the council expressed serious concern about the unregulated obstruction of the drainage channel between Purana Bazar B and Purana Bazar, stating that it has blocked the natural flow of water and is causing repeated flooding of roads, residential areas, and agricultural land.
“This unchecked drainage has led to frequent flooding in these localities, posing risks to thousands of public safety, damaging property, and disrupting the lives of residents,” the council stated.
It appealed to the authorities concerned to inspect the matter urgently and take appropriate action to remove the encroachments.
