KOHIMA — Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso on Saturday called upon the Chakhesang community to continue to be honest, peace loving and brave.
He was addressing the Chakhesang Welfare Union Upper Jail Colony Kohima (CWUUJCK) 25th anniversary celebration held at the Directorate of Prisons Complex as guest speaker.
Rhütso said the occasion serves as a reminder to the members about the hard work and dedication of a generation, and also a time to hand over the responsibilities to a new generation. He implored the need for reconciliation among the members, neighbours and with other tribes.
Stating that Kohima city is inhabited by various tribes and communities, he noted that the Chakhesang tribe is known for its traits of honesty, truthfulness, and broad-mindedness, and urged them to continue this legacy.
He also observed that the Chakhesangs have good leaders in politics, strong national workers in Naga political movement, and good leaders in student union platforms.
The legislator encouraged the members to continue to be good citizens in their present dwellings and at the same time preserve the culture and traditions along with language and attire.

Additionally, he called upon the younger generations to uphold the legacy of their elders, the culture of hard work and unity and progressive collectively.
Dr. Rhutso also highlighted the Chief Minister's Mobile Operation Theatre (CM-MOT), which has conducted 21 surgical camps across the state within nine months of its launch on January 26.
Furthermore, he appealed for patience among the people of Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, stating that, as a legislator, he had been doing his best, despite not having the same executive powers as past representatives who had held offices such as chief minister, cabinet ministers, and advisors.

Dozhohü Tünyi, president of Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK), delivered greetings and urged the community living in the state capital to be good neighbours and responsible citizens, emphasising that creating a better world starts with individuals and their contributions to the locality.
On the occasion, Medoviu Martin Suohu, councillor of KMC, released the souvenir of CWUUJCK.
Earlier, chairman of CWUUJCK Lhiwekulo Kenye delivered the welcome address, highlighting the union's humble beginnings in 2000 with 25 households and its growth to 67 households with 244 members. He urged the community to uphold the union’s values of mutual help and peaceful coexistence, guiding future generations.
The programme was led by Thsopelo Kapfo, invocation prayer was offered by Kewetshü Kenye, a folk song was presented by Mothers Group led by Wecheu K Tara and Koteü Kapfo.
Rüdasa Cürhah, vice chairman of CWUUJCK, delivered the vote of thanks and Kewekhazü Venuh pronounced benediction.
During the programme, a new CWUUJCK team for the tenure 2026-28 was announced by Vetazo Keyho, member nomination committee.
