DIMAPUR — The Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier-2), hosted by Nagaland, got underway on Saturday at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium. The first match was played among the Group B teams.
In the opening match held in the morning between Punjab and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Punjab netted 20 goals while the island side remained scoreless, suffering a 0-20 defeat.
After the opening ceremony, Nagaland fell 3-1 to Uttarakhand.

Three minutes into the match, Nagaland captain Zemloi Konyak gave the hosts an early lead, but Uttarakhand quickly responded with two goals at the 17-minute and 24-minute marks and added a third just before halftime through Khushi Pal and Anshika Maratha.
On Sunday, the second-day schedule will feature Himachal Pradesh taking on Madhya Pradesh at 2:30 pm, followed by Maharashtra clashing with Mizoram at 6:30 pm.
