DIMAPUR — World Human Rights Protection Commission (WHRPC) has awarded the prestigious honourary doctorate and lifetime national membership to Dr. Kedise Pucho during an award ceremony held in New Delhi on Saturday.
The award was conferred on Dr. Pucho in recognition of his ‘Meritorious scholarly work experience, service and profession in rural development and women empowerment," stated an update from WHRPC. The event was organised by Ministry of Cooperate Affairs, Government of India and State of New York department, USA.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It stated the Dr. Pucho obtained Ph.D degree from the School of International Studies (Pol. Geo) under the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, in 1998.
He had attended numerous training programmes at the national levels and was selected as ‘Roster of experts in Rural Development 2003' by the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad. He was also awarded ‘Research Board Advisors 2003' from American Biographical Institute, North Caroline.
Besides, Dr. Pucho also served as students’ research supervisor at the Indian Institute of Ecology Environment (IEE) in 2008, Indian Council Social Sciences Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, in 2009. He was also associated with the Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai, and NIRD & PR, Hyderabad, for organising certificate course in social accountability and social audit in 2017.
Dr. Pucho is presently serving as the principal of ETC, Phek, under SIRD department. He is active in research work in the field of rural development and women transformation in Naga society. Dr. Pucho is also presently an academician consultant of SARD, NU, in Medzephema and IGNOU, Kohima, since 2009.
Some notable research works published by Dr. Pucho included "Role of Naga women in development process" in 2006; “Re-thinking women oppression: The Sumi Naga customary law on agrarian structure" in 2008; "Evaluation of women self help group in Mon, Mokokchung and Phek in Nagaland" in 2009; "Rural livelihood: An evaluation on women self help groups in the district of Kohima, Peren and Wokha in Nagaland” 2012; "The impact of MGNREGS on rural livelihood in three districts of Kohima, Mokochung and Dimapur" in 2017; and "Women livelihood activities through Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-NRLM in Tseminyu sub-division of Kohima district" in 2022.
Besides, Dr. Pucho has also presented papers in various seminars. He is currently pursuing two research works in Phek and Kiphire districts.
Report further stated that Dr. Pucho has trained more than 15,000 stakeholders in various trades.
