Kohima, Feb. 24 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s (NDPP) candidate at 9th Kohima town assembly constituency, Dr Neikiesalie Kire has said that the NDPP-Bharatiya Janata Party (NDDP-BJP) alliance will form the government in Nagaland with Neiphiu Rio as the chief minister.
“The alliance is a super natural intervention in the greater interest of Nagaland,” said Kire, who was addressing one of his last election campaigns. He said that the stage was almost set for the NDPP-BJP alliance to form the government. He urged voters of the constituency to elect him so that the constituency’s people also become part of the ruling government in the 13th state’s legislative assembly.
Further, Kire expressed hope that his leadership would form a stable government and bring total transformation to the Naga society. He recalled that the 11 years of Rio’s leadership as chief minister from 2003 to 2014 had been a ‘glorious period for the Nagas.’
“There was peace, development during Rio’s leadership, while the situation was under control during his years as the chief minister,” Dr. Kire said mentioning that there was chaos and confusion in his absence.
“Do the Nagas want the leadership of Neiphiu Rio or TR Zeliang. It is for the people to answer,” he said in challenge.
On the NDPP-BJP alliance, he expressed confidence that there was nothing to worry about threat to the Christian faith.
“The NPF had an alliance with the BJP for the last 15 years, but they were silent for all these years. Why do they need to start pointing out the BJP Hindutva policies now,” he questioned.
About the issue of the decision to hold elections, he said that the election was ‘for solution’ and therefore he sought the support of every section of the Naga society in electing the right leaders who would lead the people to greater heights.
