DIMAPUR — The president of the Young Men's
Christian Association (YMCA), Nagaland, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, has been elected
as the regional committee chairman of the YMCA North East India Region during
its recently concluded election.
According to an update, this is the first time that the
chairman of the YMCA North East India Region has been elected from the state of
Nagaland.
The installation and swearing-in ceremony of the chairman
and other members of the regional committee of YMCA-NEIR was held on January 25
at Mizoram House, Cleve Colony, Shillong. It was attended by various officials
of YMCA-NEIR and delegates from all YMCAs in good standing across the
north-east.
During the programme, the chairman of the nomination
committee, JR Myrboh, announced the names of the new office bearers and
committee members, who were ceremoniously installed and administered the oath
of office by the Most Revd. Dr. P Lyngdoh, bishop of the Anglican churches,
diocese of north-east India.
After the formal installation, the newly elected team of
office bearers gathered for the first meeting of the regional committee,
YMCA-NEIR, where several agendas were discussed and resolutions passed for the
upcoming session.
The programme concluded with the dedication and inauguration
of the new office vehicle of YMCA-NEIR by the outgoing regional committee
chairman and national council member, Dr. R Lalthangliana, who is also the
former Minister of Higher and Technical Education, government of Mizoram.
