DIMAPUR — The district planning and development
board (DPDB) meetings for Dimapur and Wokha were held on Monday for the month
of December.
Dimapur: The Dimapur DPDB meeting was held at the DC
conference hall under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and DPDB vice
chairman, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang.
During the meeting, various developmental proposals and
matters were discussed and reviewed. The board reviewed the progress of the
proposed upgrade of Wotsa Fine Arts College, located at Model Colony, east
Dimapur, and it was approved and forwarded to the government for consideration.
The board also approved and forwarded to the concerned
department the renewal of the registration of Public College, Dimapur, and the
registration of its memorandum of association.
Under the agenda for the registration of societies, the
following were discussed, approved by the board, and forwarded to the
government: Dimapur Sakshi Union, Sakshi Cultural Society, United Baptist
Church Convention, Coal Mining Association Nagaland, United Kachari Baptist
Church Association, and Sumi Baptist Church.
PowerPoint presentations were given by the Agriculture
department, providing an overview of their current projects and initiatives
aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in the district. Similarly, the
Horticulture department showcased its recent achievements and plans for
promoting sustainable horticulture practices in Dimapur.
Wokha: The Wokha DPDB meeting-cum-picnic was held at
Government Polytechnic Doyang, Wokha, with the attendance of the chairman of
DPDB Wokha, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung
Yanthan, in addition to the heads of departments from various sectors.
The meeting, chaired by DC Wokha Vineet Kumar, who is also
the vice chairman of DPDB Wokha, deliberated on the lack of a dedicated power
supply and water supply connection at the Government Polytechnic Doyang.
Noting the challenges highlighted by the principal of
Government Polytechnic Doyang, V Julia Achumi, the house decided to raise the
matter with the government to address the issues.
Yanthan, on the occasion, reminded the members that issues
concerning the district, people and community are being addressed at the DPDB
meeting. In this regard, he encouraged the members to do justice while in
government service, for which they have been appointed, and to leave a positive
footprint by discharging their responsibilities sincerely.
Meanwhile, Mhonbemo assured that the challenges faced by the
Government Polytechnic Doyang would be taken up with the concerned minister as
a top priority.
Reviewing the minutes of the last DPDB meeting, DC Wokha
informed the departments to submit the necessary documents for obtaining land
pattas from the DC's office. PD Wokha, Thungbemo Patton, requested the line
departments to provide the required data to enable the department to work out
the modalities for the implementation of GPDP.
