Dimapur, November 9: The Doyang hydro power plant suffers from Nagaland’s legendary ailment–poor roads, besides poor internet connectivity for which the station must have to go through hard times most of the time.
An appeal has placed before the governor of Nagaland to address the gap, the PRO to the governor informed in a press release to the media on Wednesday.
The governor of Nagaland PB Acharya visited the Doyang Hydro Electric Plant (DHEP) in Wokha district and had interactions with the officials of the power plant on November 8.
During interactions, the governor was told by the general manager of the plant DS Rai said that the Doyang Hydro Electric Plant had so far generated 222 million units of electricity against the target generation of 227 million units for the year 2016-2017.
The plant will be generating its target by the end of November, 2016 i.e., 4 months ahead of time.
DS Rai also said that the plant had been facing ‘difficulties in its day to day activities due to bad road and internet connectivity.’ He has appealed to the governor to look into the matter.
PB Acharya congratulated the officials of the power plant for their ‘good performance’ and assured that he would do his best to address the problem of poor road and internet connectivity. Proper infrastructure and connectivity will not only improve their activities but will also attract tourists from all over the world, he said.
The governor of Nagaland also visited an institution during his visit to Doyang Hydro Electric Plant. Acharya interacted with the members of the faculty of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (NEEPCO) in Doyang on November 8.
During the visit, the school’s students performed a band display. The members of the institution’s faculty also demonstrated computer aided class facilities which the school has been providing to students.
The governor was also presented a book on India’s contribution to the world.
On his arrival on November 7, the school’s students organised a cultural programme to mark the event. The school’s principal, Lukumoni Borthakur, delivered the welcome speech during the event.
