
A participant competing in stilt bamboo walk competition at
the Doyang folk festival on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — The
first day of the Doyang folk festival saw visitors from Nagaland neighbouring
participating in the Naga traditional games.
- An update from the organisers stated that the first day of
the festival featured indigenous games, exhibition of bamboo and woodcrafts
like Naga plate-making from bamboo, bamboo spoons, Naga spear throw, stilt
bamboo walk, sharpest Naga machete, identifying indigenous utility objects and
correct spelling.
- It added that activities of the final day would witness
fierce competition in the various items like folk dance, folk song, indigenous
cotton yarn extraction and spinning, folk fusion.
- The Doyang folk festival is being organised by Team
Metamorphosis, in collaboration with Tourism department, Government of
Nagaland, with an aim to promote not only the Naga indigenous way of life but
also the bounty of Doyang River.
- The festival would conclude on February 28 with T Lemlila
Sangtam, deputy secretary of Tourism department, as the special guest.
- The head of DHEP, John Zeliang; deputy commissioner of
Wokha, Vineet Kumar; and host of dignitaries would address the programme.
