DIMAPUR — Doulo Vesho took the sole lead at the AICF Chess for Everyone FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2026 as the competition entered its decisive phase after six rounds of play at Ngwalwa, Peren, on Thursday.
According to a press release, the event is organised by the Inter School Chess Association – Ngwalwa Circle under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and the Nagaland Chess Association (NCA).

Doulo Vesho has secured a lead with a score of 6 out of 6. Close on his heels is Icicang Haikam with 5 points. Meanwhile, Jeremy Nitova Zhimomy, Ekram Haque, and Ilung Haikam remain contenders with 4½ points each.
With three rounds still to be played, the championship hangs in the balance. In the seventh round, leader Vesho Doulo will play against Ekram Haque on Board 1. On Board 2, Icicang Haikam will face his brother Ilung Haikam.
The organisers stated that the tournament is moving toward its climax, where every move and half-point will matter.
