DIMAPUR, JUNE 19
Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed its unhappiness on the Department of School Education (DoSE)’s directive to schools in Nagaland to observe Yoga Day on June 21.
The NTC said failed to understand the enthusiasm of the government to devotedly celebrate the Yoga Day and issued “such directives to the students which is not a part of the school curriculum, when the government of India had categorically stated that participation in June 21 International Yoga Day is not mandatory and cannot be imposed on any citizen.”
The NTC then said that the School Education Department forgetting its primary duty to impart basic education with proper infrastructures and quality teaching is thoroughly infested by bogus teachers and shortages of qualified teacher to meet the basic teaching standard and pathetic teacher/student ratio in the class rooms is now trying to superimpose the art of good health and sound mind. The NTC appealed all the citizens not to carry away with “such fallacies” but to independently fallow the ‘right to choose’ and practice one’s belief for a healthy mind, peace and prosperity.
