KOHIMA, MAY 2
The agitating Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) Phase 2 & 3 candidates, who were selected through competitive exam and are waiting for their due appointment orders, today decided to suspend their protest after the department assured them that the appointment letters would be issued on May 3.
The candidates, earlier on Monday, gathered at the gate of the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) in Kohima to protest. However, the candidates decided to suspend the agitation following assurance from the department’s Additional Director who reportedly told them that the appointment orders would be issued on Tuesday.
Informing this to reporters here, the candidates said they have decided to keep their stir in abeyance for the day. They said if the assurance was not honoured, then they would resume their agitation until the time their appointments were made.
Altogether, 111 candidates selected under RMSA for secondary teachers called for the protest as they were yet to receive their appointment orders even after a lapse of several months.
The first phase candidates, with whom the phase 2 & 3 candidates were selected through the same exam, were reportedly given appointment whereas the latter are denied of their position even as half the academic year is almost over.
On April 12, the candidates met the Education Minister and the Chief Secretary wherein they were assured that appointments would be done within the month of April.
