Kohima, Jan. 25 (EMN): Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along on Monday asserted that Nagaland is one of the most literate states in the country but ‘many young students are unable to be knowledgeable to have a strong Nagaland’.
He stated this during the inauguration of Coraggio School's new campus and launching of ‘Gethemgo’ Sports Academy’ at Lerie colony in Kohima.
He lamented that many are educated adding 'that many have certificates of high degrees feeling that it (certificates) is the gateway towards a goal'.
He then pointed out that if a person does not aspire to achieve and act upon it in daily life, 'it would lead to an end with no success'.
Along said the state is going through a time in history, which has never happened before in Nagaland and asserted, “It is for us to dream, to aspire and act upon it.” He further exhorted the students not be go-getters of certificates.
He made a clarion call to the young people to dream, dare to achieve them (dream) relentlessly by being bold and courageous.
The minister shared his aspirations of a robust Nagaland that is built with the aspirations of the Naga people. He said, “We want to see gun culture out, we want to see corruption and extortion out, we want to see bold people live proudly but humbly working hard”.
“We don’t want to see people coming people for jobs to politician but want to see people who gives exams on merit and not earn by reservation, we don’t want to see a Nagaland where link with the bureaucrat or the minister, advisor get you job but the people who are determined to work hard until goals are achieve to the fullest”, added Along.
The chief patron of the school, Vilelie Khamo shared the vision of the school is to impart quality education to the young generation and expressed happiness that the school is faring well to its purpose.
He acknowledged the efforts of the boards of directors led by the Chairman and staff of the school in sailing thus far.
On the occasion, Gethemgo Sports Academy, in partnership with Coraggio School, was also launched. Director of Gethemgo Sports International, Dr. Viposa Kiso shared that its vision is to turn passion for football into a community transformation, 'having a mission to train and equip the young generation by engaging them into football skills with life values'.
“Our solutions are based around three core pillars of our work- Football, Faith and Future. We want to provide the best footballing experience as we believe that honours God as we serve with excellence and love. We are passionate about faith and want to bring our players closer to christ” said Kiso.
He added, “we believe we have a responsibility to ensure players have a brighter future, as we plan not just for the short term but for the long term”.
The director shared that it would inspire 1000 children and 100 coaches in 2021 in the state with academy coaching, special coaching, outreach coaching and certification course for premier skills by British council while the academy would offer opportunities and privileges in the world of sports.

Earlier, Imna Along also unveiled the plague of the new school campus and jersey of the Gethemgo Sports Academy, chief patron Vilelie Khamo unfurled the school flag and later a Furtsal exhibition match was played, which was kicked off by the Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha.
