DoNER Secretary Srinivas Katikithala reviewed development projects and schemes in Manipur and inspected infrastructure projects across Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.
IMPHAL — Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Srinivas Katikithala, reviewed the progress of various development projects and schemes being implemented in Manipur under the ministry during his four-day visit to the state from September 2 to the 5th.
During his visit, Katikithala chaired a high-level review meeting at the main conference hall of the Civil Secretariat, Mantripukhri, Imphal. Senior officers from concerned state departments attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the progress of projects under DoNER and the North Eastern Council (NEC), the Oil Palm Mission, initiatives related to Industry 4.0 in the manufacturing sector, and efforts to strengthen logistics in the Northeast, covering sectors such as Forest, Health, Transport, Commerce & Industries, and Handloom & Textiles.
It also reviewed investment initiatives, the High-Level Task Force sectors—including Agriculture, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Fisheries, Transport, Commerce & Industries, Handloom, Tourism, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry—and the USP Manipur Polo initiative.

According to a press release issued by the Planning Department, the meeting reaffirmed the Government of India’s continued commitment to accelerating infrastructure development and socio-economic progress in Manipur.
During the visit, the DoNER Secretary also inspected several ongoing infrastructure projects funded under DoNER schemes, including the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), across Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.
Among the projects inspected was the INR120 crore infrastructure development of the processing zone of the Manipur IT SEZ at Mantripukhri. He also inspected infrastructure development in and around the Polo Ground at Ibudhou Marjing in Imphal East district, costing INR 30.40 crore.
Other projects inspected included the upgrading of the 18.50-km road from NH-202 at Lamlai to Thoubal Dam, being implemented at a cost of INR 48.87 crore, and the construction of a Hill (Tribal) Chief Guest House at Palace Compound in Imphal East district at a cost of INR 6.50 crore.
Katikithala also inspected the ₹11.01 crore improvement project for the 6.38-km road from Bishnupur Chingdong to Khuman via Prengba village and Loukoipat in Bishnupur district under NESIDS Roads.
During his visit, the DoNER Secretary separately called on the Manipur governor and chief minister and held discussions with the chief secretary on the state’s development priorities.
