With much pomp and gaiety, the Gorkha Samaj Kuda Village (GSKV) observed its 3rd Foundation Day today here at Youth Hall, Kuda village.
Speaking on the occasion Sanjay Pandey, Officer on Special Duty, Urban Development and chief advisor Dimapur Gorkha Union (DKU) appealed upon the Gorkha community of Nagaland to donate for the noble cause of the society. “Blood donation is a supreme donation”, he said while adding that those who donate blood is issued with a ‘card’ from the Department of Health and Family Welfare. With this ‘card’, one can avail blood in time of emergency from any part of India, he said. He also urged the community to keep education as top most priority as it is the need of the hour.
To commemoration of the 70th Martyr’s Day of the ‘First Gorkha Martyr’ Maj. Durga Malla (INA) and also honouring ‘Kargil Martyr’ Capt. N Kenguruse (MVC), Kumar Subba, Chairman, DGU said its Medziphema Unit is organizing ‘Blood Donation Camp’ on August 25. He, therefore, appeals all its members to take part in the programme and donate blood. He also lauded the service rendered by 20 federation units of DKU for the upliftment of the society and urged them to work hard so that Gorkha union of not only Dimapur, but whole Nagaland can become strong.
GSKV felicitated 103 years old Shaktikala, who is the oldest living women from the village and Uttam Sharma, second rank holder from the community in HSLC Examination, 2014.
Also those who spoke on the occasion include LB Gurung and Raju Thapa, president and general secretary, GSKV respectively.
Earlier, the programme begins with invocation prayer offered by Pastor Prem Kumar Rai, NBC Kuda-B and welcome speech by Chandra Subba, vice chairman, GSKV. Sukumar Pradhan, Chairman Action Committee, GSKV was the chair the programme while Om Lal Bhusal, Treasurer, GSKV rendered vote of thanks.
The programme concludes with the presentation of cultural items and followed by lunch.
