Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): The Don Bosco College of Kohima (DBCK) organised what it called ‘gratitude day’ on March 9 for outgoing students of the institution’s 2015 batch. It is the first batch of students graduating from the college, it was informed. The programme was held in the college premises wherein Fr. CM Joseph (Rector) was the speaker.
The programme began with a prayer by Fr. Alex, vice rector, followed by Bible reading by student Verusa Kezo. The college principal, Fr. Dr. Suresh Innocent, has exhorted the students to carry the moral and spiritual values throughout their lives.
The speaker Fr. CM Joseph, addressing the outgoing students, reminded them that they are ‘unique’ and ‘unrepeatable’ which should propel them to give performances of the highest calibre wherever they may go. He urged them to be “givers” and contribute to the betterment of society.
Speeches were also delivered by Dr. Velhou Koza, on behalf of the staff, and student Vesulu Rhakho, on behalf of the outgoing batch. Awards for Best Bosconian were given to students from the different departments as well as to the teaching staff and non-teaching staff. Special numbers were performed by Kumgha and Thejasenuo, Wokharo Kithan and Nesy Rathu.
The programme was marked by a special candle ceremony where the 137 outgoing students lighted individual candles symbolising their light that they would take with them as they pass out from the college. The ceremony was accompanied by a choir which beautifully sang “Carry your candle” song.
The students also received blessings from Fr. CM Joseph and Fr. Alex.
