Yes it does. It certainly pierces us more when our hearts are almost destined to commit the sins God forbids us to. The warning which came upon Cain is a reminder of God’s rebuke to those whom he loves. God’s warning to Cain was this,” If you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you but you must master it (Gen 4:7). The Lord knew Cain’s intention to murder Abel and i trust Cain knew it too of what he was about to commit even before he did. Does it sound familiar? Or have you ever wandered about restlessly with the sins in your heart. The truth is your conscience knows it too of what you did last night or some nights.Maybe, you might have avoided church for fear of hearing the dread which will befall sinners. Is it not written,” Every one who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. (John 3:20) Does not the scripture say, “ Simply let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one (Matthew 5:29) It only gets sharper and sharper as the revelations gets deeper and deeper and I trust the powers of it has stared its work now. So the question posed is who is our God? Is it not Christ? Whom have we grieved? Is it not the Holy Spirit? Far be it for anyone ‘s prayer to be worst than that Pharisee and we do not desire anyone’s prayer to be like it too. What really worries us most is that there are still many who hasn’t prayed like the Tax- collector and it will be a tragedy not to pray like him.
The tears in your eyes are the evidence of your love for God and if it is really cried in the truth God shall start speaking to you. So the point is this: It is love which convicts us not to sin and our disobedience to it hurts Christ as much as it hurt Him on the cross. The Holy Spirit was (IS) the witness to Christ sacrifice for us and so it will be with us. Thus to this the Scripture states “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4: 30) This is now in your heart and you shall delight more in God’s word when your hearts are right with God. Remember these are sacred words, sacred revelations written for eternal reasons, part of which we see now. The Holy Spirit is our witness.
N.B:This tract promotes the value of our relationship with God and with His Holy Spirit who is His seal of ownership on us. The chief reason why many wives fall is because of their failure to hold on to their husbands. And the interpretation of this is that so many of us often falls into temptation because we let go of the hands of Christ. This hurts: I know it does but it is in the truth we speak. The Holy Spirit is also the witness to this and even as we know in part now, someday we shall know in full. The key of relationship is given and love is the answer.
