Economics and Statistics Department distributes IT equipment in Mon.

DIMAPUR — Under birth registration-based Aadhaar enrolment initiative, the Mon division of Economics & Statistics Department distributed IT equipment on Friday during a programme held at the DC’s conference hall in Mon town.
Speaking at the event, the additional director of Economics & Statistics, Charles Kikon, stated that distribution of IT equipment was to strengthen the grassroots digital registration system, enabling a faster, more accurate and entirely online process for vital statistics. He informed that Mon district was given 33 IT sets and urged all the concerned officials and staff to make the best use of those resources, a DIPR report said.
Also speaking on the occasion, the ADC of Mon, Pakon Phom, stated that birth and death certificates are important legal documents where all details are mentioned. Mentioning that Aadhaar registration is less in Mon district, he encouraged the officials to impart the knowledge of Aadhaar to the people, adding that it is an important document to avail all those government schemes and funds.

Pakon appealed to the concerned officials to be responsible and sincere in their work, to get an accurate record in our demographic. As a responsible citizen, he urged to utilise the government facilities professionally and expressed gratitude to the government and the department of Economics & Statistics for giving the highest number of IT set to Mon district.
Pakon also launched the Aadhar registration for children between 0 and 5 years.
Meanwhile, the SDO (Civil), Nchumthung Ezung said that distribution of IT equipment marked an important step toward strengthening system of civil registration.
“The distribution reflects our collective commitment to digitisation, transparency and efficiency in public service delivery. Birth and death registration is a fundamental responsibility of governance that provides legal identity, support planning and policy making and ensure that every citizen is counted,” Ezung said.
He added that by introducing modern IT infrastructure, they are not only improving record keeping but also making the service faster and more accurate. He was optimistic that the initiative would enable real time data management, providing a step forward in aligning the district with the broader vision of digital India and good governance.
Wangmoi Konyak, IOS and in-charge of births and deaths, Mon, briefed the status of digitisation in the district. He informed that there are 154 registration units in Mon, out of which 98 villages are actively doing online registration of birth and death.
He also mentioned that since the inception of online registration of birth and death, 2605 new birth were registered, 2671 old birth certificate digitised and 51 deaths have been registered.
