Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation (TPO) has appealed to the Nagaland government for assistance to parts of the state where people are suffering but overlooked.
In an open letter to the government, the TPO on Friday stated it stand in solidarity with the people of many areas in Nagaland struggling to cope with ‘insurmountable losses and difficult situations.’
“… and while it is appreciative of the role of the government of Nagaland and a whole lot of people doing their best to mitigate and take control of the situation, there may be pockets where people are suffering but are overlooked.
“It is learnt that, in Meluri sub-division, two areas of Kamaleah and Phokungri, besides suffering massive destruction of fields, are also totally cut-off which are situated beyond Meluri town and on the other side of the landslides which have affected the Kiphire district. However, so far only two villages had received relief materials whereas the affected villages includes Kanjang, Akhen, Reguri, Mollen, Lutsam, Washelo, New Thewati, Old Thewati and Avankho,” it stated.
The TPO appealed to the government to take stock of the situation in these areas and reach out with necessary assistances.
