DNSU urges railway landowners to prioritise greater good

- DIMAPUR — While acknowledging the complexities
and sensitivities surrounding the railway land acquisition issue, the Dimapur
Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has appealed to the stakeholders—the landowners, in
particular—to take a broader view of the long-term benefits of redeveloping the
Dimapur Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
- In a press statement issued on Saturday, the union
maintained that Dimapur Railway Station is more than just an infrastructural
facility. “It is the lifeline of our people, a crucial artery of commerce, and
a symbol of our collective aspirations. Upgrading it to a world-class standard
is not merely a matter of modernisation but an essential step toward securing a
prosperous future for generations to come,” it stated.
- The DNSU reminded the stakeholders that development often
requires collective sacrifice, “but it also yields collective rewards.”
- It, therefore, appealed to the landowners and relevant
stakeholders to engage in meaningful and solution-driven discussions with the
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and the Dimapur district administration; consider
fair and just compensation mechanisms that uphold the interests of all parties;
and prioritise the greater good over individual constraints.
- “The DNSU firmly believes that with cooperation and
dialogue, an equitable resolution can be reached—one that balances development
with fairness. Let us not allow bureaucratic hurdles or short-term obstacles to
derail the vision of a modern, thriving Nagaland,” it stated.
