DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has appealed to the state government to intervene following a recent judgement of the Gauhati High Court (Kohima Bench) quashing the physical test and written examination conducted for Excise constable recruitment by the departmental recruitment board (DRB).
In a press release issued on Monday, the student body said it has submitted a representation to the secretary of Excise department.
The DNSU said it had received multiple representations from affected aspirants who expressed anguish, mental distress and uncertainty after the recruitment process was abruptly cancelled.

The student body said many candidates had invested years of preparation and financial resources in good faith, only to face disappointment due to procedural irregularities beyond their control. Describing the matter as serious, the DNSU referred to the court’s observation that recruitment rules cannot be altered midway, raising concerns over transparency, fairness and accountability in the process.
Citing these concerns, the DNSU urged the government to dissolve the existing DRB and constitute a fresh recruitment body to restore public trust and ensure adherence to established recruitment rules and principles of natural justice.
The union also sought safeguards for affected aspirants, proposing that candidates who had already qualified the physical test in the quashed process be considered eligible in the next recruitment without being required to undergo the physical test again.
The DNSU said the future of a large number of educated unemployed youth should not be compromised due to institutional failures and stressed the need for corrective measures to restore the morale and confidence of aspirants.
