DIMAPUR — Taking a strong stance on the
ongoing Maximum Retail Price (MRP) issue, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union
(DNSU) has called upon the authorities to take immediate action.
An update from the union stated that its officials along
with senior leaders, tribunal members and constituent units, during an
emergency coordination meeting held on November 28, has resolved to take
decisive measures to address the issue.
It claimed that despite assurances from Manish Singhvi to
cooperate with the investigation, he attempted to manipulate the situation and
reopened his shop.
The DNSU has strongly condemned this action and resolved
that Manish Singhvi should not be allowed to operate his business until the
case is resolved satisfactorily. It added that any attempt to reopen his shop
before the resolution of the case would be met with democratic course of
actions by the union.
It has demanded the police and relevant authorities to treat
the matter with utmost urgency and resolve the case by punishing those
responsible. It also urged the authorities to take concrete steps to prevent
such incidents in the future.
Besides, DNSU has demanded the authorities to submit report
on the case to its office within two days.
DNSU reiterated its commitment to ensure rights of the
consumers and promoting fairness in the marketplace.
Meanwhile, the union has appealed to civil society
organisations, concerned authorities and the public not to support or condone
the actions of Manish Singhvi but support in their efforts to ensure delivery
of justice.
