Dimapur, October 6: In an act of kindness, a group of youth in Dimapur city by the name of “Bengali Youth Generation (BYG)” on the theme ‘Dreams of youth’ came together to express gratitude to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) workers (sweepers and labourers) for their relentless contribution towards the town throughout the year by offering them meal on October 6 at the DMC Office premises.
Bengali Youth Generation (BYG) comprising around 15 members from various professions conceived this idea by taking into consideration on the yeoman service rendered by the DMC workers. This is the first project initiated by BYG to welcome the ensuing Durga Puja festival. The members also disclosed that the event will be an annual project. According to the members, the act was a small gesture of extending ‘Thank You’ message to the workers.
DMC Administrator, H Atokhe Aye, has applauded the noble initiative taken by BYG, while he also called upon the workers to continue with their humble contribution in their efforts in keeping the town clean for the people. Terming the gesture towards the town workers as an ‘eye-opener’ for various organizations, he exhorted that their noble venture will not go in waste but instill a sense of belongingness.
