Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): Continuing with its commitment to develop the cosmopolitan city, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) launched 12 medium size tipper trucks, two JCB excavators, one Pokland, one road roller and 250 dustbins on May 15, which was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome.
Two dustbins to each household in Dimapur will be provided ‘free of cost’ sponsored by DMC, while imparting the citizens to adopt segregation of waste at source will be launched on June 5 coinciding with World Environment Day. This was announced by DMC administrator H Atokhe Aye.
From the second week of June, one vehicle will be send to cover two areas to collect garbage and two dustbins each will be placed at school and town areas, he added.
Articulating on DMC’s commitment to deliver basic services to the public through development works, Aye has sought cooperation from the Dimapur community. The DMC administrator also informed the colony wards to submit the house list by May 20 adding that the ward meeting will be held on May 26 at DMC Office premise. With public participation and cooperation, he said there will be significant improvement in waste collection, transportation and disposal of waste.
DC Yhome, launching the basic amenities of DMC, stressed on three points wherein he lauded the DMC workers for their tireless effort in keeping the town clean even though their efforts go invisible and persuaded them to use the machineries provided as their own. Taking opportune of the event, Yhome, on behalf of district administration, expressed gratitude towards DMC administrator Atokhe for his effort in bringing development in Dimapur.
“If Nagas do not imbibe civic sense and cooperate towards the administration in keeping the city clean, there will be no development,” observed Yhome.
He advocated imparting education on ‘segregation of waste at source’ and sought public cooperation. DMC Executive Engineer, Badal Bhadra rendered the vote of thanks.
