Dimapur, July 26 (EMN): As per the meeting resolution passed on July 20 between the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF) and GBs Union, in accordance with the Government’s provision for collection of Residential Sanitary Tax (RST) as per Government order and the Municipal Act, DMC Administrator, Moa Sangtam has informed to all the residents of Dimapur Municipal Area that the amount of Rs 40 will be collected as RST monthly from each household starting from August.
The administrator also informed that out of the total amount of Rs. 40, Rs 30 will be submitted to the DMC for maintenance of vehicles, payment of salaries to drivers, labours and POL expenditure. The remaining Rs 10 will be kept by the Ward Sanitation Committee for collector’s salaries and other expenditures.
In lieu of the RST collection, the DMC will be providing garbage and household waste collection services from August 1. TATA Tripper 407 will be earmarked for each ward with labours to ensure proper collection of garbage and household waste which will be monitored by the Ward Sanitation Committee.
The DMC therefore requested all residents of Dimapur Municipality to kindly co-operate with the municipal authority in improving the waste management system which is in line with the aspiration of DMC to make better Dimapur with community participation.
