Dimapur, Nov. 10: The panel of judges for the Dimapur Municipal Council’s (DMC) initiative “Cleanest Colony Competition 2018” has informed authorities of wards/colonies in the city that the judges will be visiting wards/colonies to select the winner.
According to a statement from the panel, the judges will inspect the wards in the following order: wards 1-8 on Nov. 16; wards 9-16 on Nov. 23; and wards 17-23 on Dec. 2.
All the Gaon Bura and chairmen of respective ward have been requested to mobilise residents to clean their respective colonies and participate in the competition.
The winners will be selected on the basis of garbage and drainage management, road maintenance, and community participation.
The administrator of the DMC Moa Sangtam told Eastern Mirror that the winning colony will receive a cash prize of INR 1 lakh. There will be second and third prizes as well. Sangtam said that the prize for them has yet to be decided.
The recipient of the Cleanest Colony Award for 2017 was River Belt Colony. This year, monthly awards carrying citations and cash of INR 10,000 were handed to the cleanest colony of the month from January to November. Judges have been inspecting various colonies. So far, the monthly winners include NST colony, Sema Tilla, Aokong colony, United Naga Block ‘B,’ Burma Camp, Viola colony, and Imkonglenden colony.
