Dimapur, Sep.21 (EMN): Parliamentary secretary of Municipal Affairs Department, Zhaleo Rio, today launched the official website of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) in the office premises.
Launching the website, Rio expressed confidence that DMC will exercise more transparency in all its activities. He also encouraged DMC to have a good revenue earning policy and called upon the officials to sincerely utilise the collected revenues towards maintaining the roads.
Stating that DMC has many sources of income, Rio remarked that the council should be self sustaining and not give reason for payment of staff salary. While acknowledging Dimapur as the commercial hub of the State, he said the Council has challenges towards meeting the aspiration of the public within its jurisdiction.
Also admitting that DMC has been performing well, Rio insisted improving the facilities and to provide services that will sustain throughout the year. Also stating that DMC alone cannot serve the purpose towards improving the services, he has called for community participation in order to keep the city clean, green and healthy.
Acknowledging that launching of DMC’s website was a necessity, he lauded the former DMC administrator, Atokhe Aye, on his efforts towards commissioning the website.
Lauding Symbios for creating the website, Rio persuaded them to continue with their services for the general welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, DMC administrator Moa Sangtam has acknowledged the former DMC administrator Atokhe Ayemi for commissioning the website in January, 2016, and expressed optimism that the website will be a good platform for the public to interact with the department.
Sangtam also informed that DMC will be undergoing online for payment of trade license, renewal of trade license, and payment of house rent by December.
