DIMAPUR, MARCH 22
The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has yet again brought in another facility in the district by setting down a landmark at Landmark Colony. The council inaugurated a 1841.4 Sqm and a RCC box culvert which had been left untouched in the area for decades.
The inaugural programme was conducted on Tuesday at said colony with Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) Ltd chairman Tovihoto Aye as the chief guest.
The road is one that connects various institutions and departments of the locality to the urban areas. For decades, the commuters had been suffering with a road that had no black-top for as long as many can remember. In his brief speech, Tovihoto Aye lauded the DMC for ‘bringing development as per the requirements of the public in many areas of the district.’ Calling ‘inauguration’ as a sign of development, Aye called upon the people to work together and ‘understand each other while trying to bring developmental changes in the state.’
While glorifying the works of the DMC, the chief guest appealed to the members to practice ‘workmanship’ nonetheless.
H Atokhe Aye, in charge as the Chief Executive Officer of the DMC, had been initiating in changes in the district’s infrastructural landscape for since a little over one year in charge. The DMC has so far repaired and constructed 13 roads, besides other ongoing constructions. Some of them include 10 RCC box culverts, two hume pipe culverts, a small bridge, 56 dustbins, and 18 other drain works with cover slabs. They mark 100 developmental changes that DMC has undertaken in the district to fulfil for the wellbeing of the public.
Aye said that the inaugurated road was undertaken on request given by Landmark Colony’s community leaders and NPF party officials whose office is located in the area. He assured that the DMC was committed to fulfilling ‘the basic needs of the general public.’ He has appealed to the public to cooperate with the department. Without the support of the public, he said, no developmental work can take place.
