DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Lotha Students' Union (DLSU) has opposed the nomination of non-Nagas to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC).
In a press release, the DLSU said that as a tribal unit of the Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU), it supports DNSU's position that non-locals should not be represented in the DMC, as this undermines the moral integrity of the Naga people.

“We would like to remind the state government that Article 371(A) is a fundamental right, safeguarded by the blood and sacrifices of our ancestors, and should not be treated as merely symbolic,” the union stated.
While opposing any attempts to undermine this provision, the DLSU also urged the newly elected DMC members to prioritise the welfare of the Naga people, respecting their sentiments and maintaining peace and harmony.
“We seek to coexist harmoniously, not to be governed by outsiders,” it added.
