DIMAPUR — Dimapur Langpangkong Senso Telungjem (DLST) expressed its disappointment that the jubilee clock tower-cum-free public drinking water booth, constructed in collaboration with the Dimapur Municipal Council, is being littered with garbage.
In a press note, it said that in commemoration of its golden jubilee in 2018, DLST had constructed the jubilee clock tower to serve not only as a beautiful landmark in the city but also as an important free filtered drinking water point, especially during the scorching summer heat in Dimapur.
However, it noted that people have been thoughtlessly throwing garbage in the area, turning a supposedly beautiful city landmark into a public eyesore.
“It's also discouraging that even food carts are seen parked there the whole day, disregarding the local community's contribution for the betterment of Dimapur,” it read.
It mentioned that, committed to the well-being of the city and its people, the DLST cleaned and renovated the facility on Sunday as part of its maintenance efforts. The filters were serviced, and the tank was washed as well.
Furthermore, it mentioned plans to create a flower garden around it.
