Diphu, June 25 (EMN): Diphu Lekhika Samaroh Samitee (DLSS), women organisation of Diphu town, gave away Rashmee Kropi Memorial Award to two students of Diphu town, who achieved the highest percentage in HSLC 2022, during an award function held at Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami Bhawan of DLSS in Diphu.
The award was constituted by Dr. Badan Ch. Kro and Geetanjali Das Kro in memory of their late daughter Rashmee Kropi under Rashmee Kropi Memorial Trust. Their daughter Rashmee Kropi died due to cancer at an adolescent age while pursuing her higher secondary on April 12, 2001. The award is given away by DLSS.
The award is given to one student from amongst the non-schedule tribe community and one from amongst the scheduled tribe community securing the highest marks respectively from Diphu examination centres.
In the non-schedule tribe category, Memento Nath of Little Kids School, Diphu, who secured 95.6 percent and Clar-et Ronghangpi of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Diphu, who secured 95 percent, were given the awards.
The two students were felicitated by the organiser with Assamese Phulan Gamocha and also handed a cash award of INR 5000 and certificate.
Receiving the award Ronghangpi, D/o of late Raju Ronghang and Mary Terangpi of Rongkhelan, thanked the organisers for awarding her with the Rashmee Kropi Memorial Award.
She also thanked her teachers and parents for their support and guidance in her success and aims to become an IAS officer.
Meanwhile, Nath said that it is very fortunate for him to receive the award as it is recognition of his hard work and dedication. He has been admitted to Nagaon College in Science stream and aims to become a software engineer by studying at the top IIT Colleges in the country.
Geetanjali Das Kro, mother of late Rashmee Kropi, who is also an advisor to DLSS said, “Though our daughter is no more, we always feel her presence in us. The award will remind us of the presence of our daughter. It is an encouragement for the students to try hard and become successful”.
The candidates for the award were selected from various Diphu examination centres securing the highest percentage, Kro said.
