Deputy Commissioner, Mon, and chairman of DLCC, W Honje Konyak, has insisted proper verification for successful implementation on the services rendered by banks particularly the government sponsored schemes like PMEGP loan and further sought reports to avoid denial of opportunity to the people of the district.
Deputy Commissioner said this during the DLCC/ DLRC/ DLSC meeting held for the quarter ended September 2015-16 in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on December 16. The DC also urged the banks to give priority to all the Prime Minister Social Security and Insurance Schemes and start creating awareness among the public. He assured full support and for which a committee had already been formed.Rajesh E Kamble, Manager LDO, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), while acknowledging that there are certain problems in areas like difficult terrain and poor connectivity for the banks for recovery drives resulting in the high level of Non-Performing Assets (NPA), shared the need for more joint recovery drive by the bank branches.
Rajuselie Lhousa, District Program Coordinator (Financial Inclusion) NSRLM, also participated in the proceedings and stressed on the need for confidence-building and trust between the banks and the public. He stressed that it is the only gate-way to improve bank’s business as well as create growth to the community whereby existing problem like NPAs could be avoided. He opined that Financial Literacy Camps (FLC) were not enough to create awareness but added that banks should take advantage to properly address by way of providing necessary information when the public come to their table since bankers hardly get time to go out and meet the customers.
RS Mour, LDM Mon district, expressed unhappiness over the poor performance of the banks under Prime Minister Schemes and urged the banks to take these schemes very seriously. He said Credit Deposit Ratio (CDR) was 50.41% for the quarter ended September 2015.
Regarding performance of Annual Credit Plan (ACP) under Kissan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme, some branches reported that new applications were received and the processes for fresh loans are underway. Under Self Help Group (SHG), LDM said performance of the bank branches were very poor except NSCB Mon and asked the other banks to improve under the scheme.
Under Prime Minister Mudra Yojana—Mudra loan, the bank branches informed that they have started receiving applications further adding that few numbers of loans had already been sanctioned.
Action points emerged from DLCC meeting stressed that bank branches should do proper verification of PMEGP loans including spot verification before sanctioning of loans and report to the Deputy Commissioner with proper justification in case of rejection. The bank branches should submit list of loan defaulters with all the details to the LDM and bank branches to submit progress report of awareness on Prime Minister’s Social Security and Insurance Schemes to the Deputy Commissioner by February 2016.

The meeting ended with the Deputy Commissioner and the LDM thanking the members and extending their warm greetings for the festive season to all the members.
