Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN):  The district administration of Mokokchung district and members of the Mahila Shakti Kendra for the district have started the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) week by conducting a ‘BBBP oath’ and a ‘signature ceremony,’ in the deputy commissioner’s establishment led by Deputy Commissioner Limawabang Jamir on January 20, the updates stated. A series of events are to be undertaken during the following days as part of the BBBP Week, it was informed.

Activities

Day-2, January 21: Distribution of information, education and communication materials and BBBP badges.

Day-3, January 22:  Door-to-door campaign with Aganwadi workers and ‘paste BBBP stickers,’ according to the IPR.

Day-4, January 23: Distribution of pamphlets at the Wednesday women’s bazaar and a drawing competition at an orphanage.

Day-5, January 24: Broadcasting the BBBP theme song on the local channel and radio station. There will be a tree plantation drive in the name of the girl child in Mokokchung town and all subdivisions in Mokokchung district.

Day-6, January 25: Distribution of “Bookipedia library membership card" to 500 girl students and putting up ‘flex’ in hospitals and schools.

Day-7, January 26:  Felicitation of ambassadors for girls and ‘local champions,’ the updates added.

Tuensang

Agencies in Tuensang district also conducted a similar event. Updates informed that the week-long observance of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week in Tuensang commenced with a ‘walkathon’ which was flagged off at 6:00 am on January 20 by Shelley Katiry, sub-divisional officer of Tuensang.

‘The walkathon started from the Clock Town junction and culminated at the main bazaar junction. Later in the morning, the participants also conducted social work in the main town area,’ the updates stated. Earlier, the significance of the BBBP Week was highlighted by Chulongla, centre administrator of Sakhi-One Stop Centre of Tuensang. Around 80 adolescent girls are said to have participated in the event.
