Multiple districts in Nagaland organise district-level youth festivals featuring cultural and literary competitions.
DIMAPUR — District-level youth festivals featuring folk songs, dances, and declamation competitions were conducted across multiple districts of Nagaland.
Chümoukedima: In Chümoukedima, the festival was organised by the Office of the District Youth Resources and Sports Officer (DYRSO) on September 12 at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
According to a DIPR report, the event provided a platform for participants to showcase their talents, creativity, and cultural expressions.
Delivering the welcome address, District Youth Resources and Sports Officer Wutsutho explained the selection process for the state-level competitions.
Wutsutho informed that folk dance and folk song performances would be video recorded for evaluation. Participants from all 17 districts of the state will be assessed, with the best eight selected to compete at the state level.
He stated that the final results would be declared on September 17, and selected participants would be informed through their team leaders and teachers-in-charge.
The state-level competition is scheduled to be held from September 28 to the 30th at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
The festival concluded with the distribution of prizes. Vungi Nzanta Cultural Club won both the folk song and folk dance competitions, while Thejatsinuo Sanchu and Yimtisenla won the declamation competition.

Longleng: In Longleng, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) organised the festival at Yingli College on September 12.
Delivering a speech on the significance of folklore, Vice Principal of Yingli College Dr. B Henshet Phom stressed the importance of preserving traditional knowledge, cultural expressions, and indigenous heritage among the younger generation.
The competitions were judged by Phom Students' Conference Social and Cultural Secretary B Bauom Phom, Area Research Officer Lenke Aventh, and Assistant Professor Dr. Vangngoi Phom.
Zunheboto: The Office of the DYRSO Zunheboto organised the event at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Old Town, Zunheboto, on Monday.
In the declamation contest, Nigha of Cornerstone Higher Secondary School secured first place, while Lino Kiba of Zunheboto Government College took second. In folk song, Zunheboto Government College won first position, followed by Cornerstone Higher Secondary School. In folk dance, Cornerstone Higher Secondary School secured first place, while Zunheboto Government College came second.
Shamator: Organised by the DYRSO office in Tuensang, the festival took place at the cultural hall in Shamator on Monday.
In folk song, Christian High School won first prize, while Shamator College secured second. In folk dance, Government Higher Secondary School Shamator won first place, and Christian High School took second.
In declamation, Sunso and Berimong, both from Shamator College, won first and second positions, respectively.
Noklak: The festival was held at White Hall in Noklak village on Monday on the theme "Youth, skill and a self-reliant Nagaland", organised by the District Youth Resources and Sports Office, Tuensang.
Government Higher Secondary School Noklak won the folk song competition, while Government High School Noklak Village secured second. In folk dance, Government Higher Secondary School Noklak took first position, followed by Thang Students' Union in second.
In declamation, St. Paul School Noklak secured first place, while Government Higher Secondary School Noklak and Thang Students' Union won second position.
Winners will represent the district at the state-level competition.
