District Technical Official Course underway in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The three-day District Technical Official Course (DTO) for Nagaland commenced at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, on Monday.
In a press release, the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) informed that a total of 82 participants registered for the course. DTO course is organised by Athletics Federation of India in collaboration with Nagaland Athletics Association.
It is the third time that the Athletics Federation of India is conducting the technical official course in Nagaland. District Technical Official course is one of the most significant grassroot programmes of the AFI and provides training and certification to untrained technical officials all over India.

The course provides an ample opportunity to technical official to improve the quality and standards of officiating during athletics competitions.
The inaugural guest for the course was Abu Metha, Vice President of Athletics Federation of India and President of Nagaland Athletics Association.
In his introductory remark, he emphasised on the importance of technical officials in the promotion games and sports.
Metha mentioned that qualified technical officials from Nagaland are now being given the opportunity to officiate as technical official in the regional and national level competitions with the support from AFI. He also assured that Nagaland Athletics will be organising similar courses in the future and request all the participant to extend cooperation.
Resource person for the DTO course is Shambhudas Bandopadhyay from AFI, a World Athletics Silver Level Referee, AFI technical delegate and member of Technical Committee.
The programme was chaired by Neingulie Nakhro, Treasurer of Nagaland Athletics Association.
