District Skill Committee meeting conducted in Dimapur

the DC conference hall in Dimapur on Wednesday.
- DIMAPUR — The
Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, held the final quarterly meeting of
the District Skill Committee (DSC) on Wednesday, chaired by ADC Dimapur Zakabo
V Rotokha.
- In the review meeting, Gideon Sumi, district employment
officer, Dimapur, said that the Department of Employment, Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship has launched multiple skill development programmes for
2024-25.
- These, he mentioned, include the state-funded PACES
programme for training in electrician (160 candidates) and baking (160
candidates), as well as another initiative for 25 candidates, which is yet to
be finalised. Additionally, the centrally funded SANKALP project includes
training in assistant electrician and carpentry (50 candidates) and food
processing (50 candidates).
- According to a DIPR report, these initiatives aim to enhance
employability and self-sufficiency for the youth of the district. Eligible
candidates are encouraged to enrol. For details, one may contact the Department

- He also said that the review highlighted achievements such
as increased enrolment in technical courses, successful placements in various
sectors, and collaborations with local businesses. Challenges, including
infrastructure gaps and funding constraints, were also addressed, with plans
for further improvement.
- The DEO emphasised the growing demand for skill development
among employees in various sectors. The DEO highlighted the department's
commitment to providing policies that support their growth and ensure they
receive quality training.
