DIMAPUR — The
monthly district planning and development board (DPDB) meetings for the
districts of Kohima and Tuensang were held on Saturday, while those for
Shamator and Mon were held on February 14.
Kohima: At the Kohima DPDB meeting held at the DPDB hall in
the presence of DPDB chairman and MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso and MLA Kevipodi
Sophie, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) CEO T Lanusenla Longkumer highlighted
that sanitation was decentralised in 2013 and currently, KMC manages commercial
waste using nine vehicles, while the wards operate 39 vehicles for waste
collection.
She said these while giving a PowerPoint presentation on KMC
activities and added that 65 sweepers are engaged in cleaning the town once a
week, according to a DIPR report. The meeting was chaired by Deputy
Commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant.
Lanusenla also spoke about the PM SVANidhi scheme and the
KMC website. Addressing the challenges faced by KMC, she mentioned salary shortfalls,
making KMC dependent on government grants, the lack of proper office space for
KMC operations, ageing sanitation vehicles, and the difficulty in removing
collection points due to traffic congestion and vehicle sizes.
She also highlighted the non-functional septage management
plant, the lack of designated spaces for vendors, the non-functional Kohima
Super Market, and the lack of coordination in development activities.
Additionally, she outlined the initiatives undertaken by KMC.
Dr. Rhutso suggested that shop owners take responsibility
for maintaining cleanliness in their designated areas. Meanwhile, Sophie
emphasised the need for designated spaces for farmers to sell their produce,
particularly in the morning hours.
The DC reviewed the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting. On
the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)
initiative, a district felicitation was held.
Ketsino Jane Frances and Ketsole Mekro, the female toppers
of the NBSE 2024 HSLC and HSSLC exams, were felicitated for their achievements.
Additionally, woman police personnel Hili Kath Metsie-o was recognised for her
contributions to solving women-related cases.
Two organisations, Leal Group Society Kohima and Science and
Technology Advancement and Research Society, gave PowerPoint presentations
seeking registration approval. After deliberation, the board decided to approve
their proposals for further action. The board also welcomed three new members:
ARC Cooperation, BDO Kohima, and BDO Botsa.
The Industries and Commerce department was assigned to
present a PowerPoint presentation at the next DPDB meeting.
After the meeting, a dedicated vehicle was launched for the
One Stop Centre for the rescue and support of women affected by violence in
private and public spaces, within the family, community, and at the workplace,
in the presence of Dr. Rhutso and Sophie, DC Kohima, and other DPDB members.
Tuensang: The Tuensang DPDB meeting was held at the DC
conference hall under the chairmanship of Shelley Katiry, ADC Tuensang.
After reviewing the minutes of last month’s meeting, the
house discussed the agendas for the registration of Better Livelihood Konya
Village Society and Shalom Welfare Society. PowerPoint presentations on
departmental activities were given by the Land Resources department, Tuensang.
During the discussion, Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum, CMO Tuensang,
appealed to the board members to contribute for the TB patients of Tuensang to
purchase nutrition under Nikshay Mitra. The house welcomed Nyanthung Lotha SS
NST as its member.
Shamator: The Shamator DPDB meeting was convened under the
chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Chubatemjen.
During the meeting, the board approved various agendas,
including the proposal for the construction of the DC Bungalow, restoration of
Circular Road from PHED Ward-St. Xavier Colony to NAP Ward, the proposal for a
new police outpost at Yakor Village jurisdiction, the registration of Labour
and Skill Welfare Society and Shojang Welfare Society, and the proposal for the
construction of a new BDO office and quarter at RD Block Shamator.
Mon: The Mon DPDB meeting was held at the DC conference hall
under the chairmanship of DC and vice chairman of DPDB, Ajit Kumar Verma.
After reviewing the minutes of the last meeting, the DC
introduced the application received from Aboi Area Students’ Union for the
upgradation of the Science Stream at GHSS Aboi.
The house discussed and concluded that the proposal was
genuine, as science stream institutions are lacking in the district. The
members unanimously agreed and forwarded it to the concerned department for
approval. The house also discussed the upgradation of SDO (C) Angjangyang to
ADC Hq.
The board also recommended the registration of the Mon
District Athletics Association and Angjang Consortium Society after all
relevant documents were found to be correct and complete.
The house also discussed the governor’s visit to the
district. In this regard, the DC requested all the heads of departments to be
well prepared and present during his visit.
SDO (C), Mon, Ajit Kumar, presented an update on the
Inter-Departmental Tournament, which is scheduled for this month. He requested
all the officers in charge to be responsible for the work entrusted to their
department.
