
DIMAPUR — With an objective to create awareness among the NFSA beneficiaries on rice fortification being implemented in the state, the department of Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) conducted a sensitisation programme for district officers in its conference hall on July 5.
An update from the department stated that the awareness programme was organised to enhance the understanding of fortified rice and its impact on the overall health and wellbeing of the general population.
The additional director of F&CS, Lanutoshi Jamir, welcomed all the district officers and the resource persons to the awareness programme, which was organised in collaboration with PATH.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It stated that the resource persons namely Shanpanthung Ezung, STO, PATH, gave an in-depth knowledge of fortified rice through PPT, and Samuel Zehol, designated officer of food safety administration (Dimapur zone), also presented the technical aspects of fortified rice with in-depth knowledge of rice fortified and in lay man terminology.
Zehol said the district officers were entrusted to disseminate the message that all the districts in the state are to be covered with fortified rice in phase-wise manner with a target to cover with 100% by March 2024.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by K Mhonthung, deputy director of F&CS.
